Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak Clarifies On Visit Visa Issue

Jun 24, Kathmandu - Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has clarified the visit visa issue. Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, he said that the Authority is conducting an investigation into visit visas and studies, and an investigation will be conducted as per the need once the findings are available.

He said that it would not be appropriate to form another investigation committee since the responsible commission is conducting the investigation and the government has arranged the assistance requested by the authority.

Similarly, on the second point, he said that the government is ready to resolve the long-standing problem of the visit visa issue and that the government has taken an important decision for that.

He said that there are many problems related to immigration, and informed that they have been happening since the past, and said that the government is seriously considering how to make it easier to issue visit visas.

He informed that the government has decided to take concrete initiatives to resolve the problems from the past yesterday. He said that a high-level investigation committee has been formed yesterday so that the work of the Authority is not affected.

The committee has been given 13 mandates. The committee will prepare a report within three months. A 6-member committee has been formed under the leadership of former Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi.
