Election Commission Prepares For By-elections

Jun 26, Kathmandu - The Election Commission has prepared by-elections for vacant posts at various levels. Therefore, the Election Commission has requested those who are exempted from registering their names in the voter list to register their names.

Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission, Durga Prasad Chalise, said that names should be registered as soon as possible as they will not be allowed to be registered in the voter list after the election date is announced.

Last Friday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the acting Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission, Ram Prasad Bhandari, and other officials discussed setting the date for by-elections for various vacant posts.

In particular, there was consultation on holding elections for vacant members in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 of the House of Representatives and Manang Constituency No. 1 (B) of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly in the second week of Kartik.

The post is vacant after the death of RPP MP Deepak Bohara in Rupandehi 3. Similarly, the post is vacant after Deepak Manange, a Provincial Assembly member from Manang Constituency No. 1 (2), went to jail. Similarly, more than a dozen ward chair posts are vacant at the local level.
