Two new mobile applications have been launched to enhance the collection, management, and security of information related to Nepalis working abroad. The apps, named ‘Shramsansar App’ and ‘HaMi Mobile App,’ were launched through separate programs yesterday.
The ‘Shramsansar App’ was introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari jointly launching the platform. Nepali workers abroad can now register their details via this app, which aims to facilitate the government in tracking the number and situation of Nepalis in various countries.
Foreign Minister Rana highlighted that, in the past, lack of accurate information led to Nepalis being cheated, facing difficulties, and approaching the ministry with complaints. The new app is expected to help eliminate such issues and improve consular services and rescue efforts when needed.
Meanwhile, the Korean government launched the ‘Hami Mobile App’ to provide essential information to Nepali nationals seeking employment in Korea. This initiative has been developed with financial support from the Korean government and is operated in collaboration with Nepal’s Ministry of Labor.
Labor Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari stated that the app aims to bring transparency and policy reform in the foreign employment sector through digital technology. The ‘Hami Mobile App’ is available in both Nepali and English and offers resources related to skill development, financial planning, and mental health.
According to the Korean Embassy, the app supports Nepali workers before, during, and after their employment in Korea, and also promotes entrepreneurship. The overall goal is to make foreign employment safer, more organized, and dignified for Nepali workers.
