Jun 27, Kathmandu - The Education Committee under the House of Representatives has reached a consensus on the issue of child development education. In the ongoing meeting of the committee, Chairman Ammar Bahadur Thapa had made a proposal on the issue of child development education.
Accordingly, the committee members have agreed on the matter. Child development education has been included in basic education. It has been included in school education from early childhood development and education to grade 8.
It has been agreed that child development education cannot be conducted in public schools for more than two years.
Consensus reached on child development education
1. The local level may, subject to national standards, allow the operation of Early Childhood Development Centers in schools to develop curiosity and positive thinking in child development. The concerned local level may adjust and redistribute the Early Childhood Development Centers in operation before the commencement of the Act so that there is at least one in each school.
2. The Government of Nepal may, after ensuring resources, operate early childhood development and education in public schools as a two-year program, effective from the date specified.
3. No school shall be allowed to operate pre-primary education for a period exceeding 2 years.
4. There shall be no age limit for the currently working Early Childhood Development and Education Facilitators to participate in the open competitive examination for the first time.
