Jun 28, Kathmandu - The Finance Bill, 2082 has been passed by the House of Representatives. In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel had presented a proposal to pass the bill. The bill was passed by a majority.
In today's meeting, the amendments received to the Finance Bill, 2082 were discussed. Responding to questions raised during the discussion on the amendment proposal, Finance Minister Poudel said that there have not been many changes with the aim of maintaining stability in tax policy and creating an investment environment.
He said that the priority of the Economic Act is to expand the tax base, control revenue leakage, and bring the informal economy under the tax net. Finance Minister Poudel said that the emphasis has been placed on policy stability, considering the fact that changing revenue rates every year can cause problems for investors.
He said that tax exemptions and concessions have been introduced in areas that can increase production and productivity and contribute to the overall national economy by motivating industrialists and businessmen to invest. Finance Minister Poudel claims that the Economic Bill for the coming fiscal year has been presented keeping this in mind. All the amendment proposals made to the Economic Bill, 2082 were rejected by a majority.
