Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Appoints Parag Jain As New RAW Chief

Jun 28, Kathmandu - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed Parag Jain as the new chief of the intelligence agency RAW.

He is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1989 batch. Parag Jain will take over as the successor of retiring chief Ravi Sinha, whose term ends on June 30.

The newly appointed chief, Parag, is an officer with extensive experience in India's intelligence sector. He also has experience in handling intelligence desks in neighboring countries. He also headed RAW's Nepal desk.

He also headed the Indian Aviation Research Centre (ARC) in his previous tenure, an organization considered an expert in aerial surveillance and technology-based intelligence gathering.

His appointment by the government led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seen as a strategic message to strengthen South Asian regional security. Parag Jain's experience is expected to further enhance India's security approach, even in the context of Nepal.
