Prime Minister Urges Investment in Nepal

Jul 05, Kathmandu - A delegation from the Malaysia-Nepal Business Council met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday to discuss potential investment opportunities and prospects across various sectors in Nepal.

The meeting, held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, was attended by a 20-member delegation led by Pradeep Kumar Kukreja (Dato), Executive Chairman of Paradised Group Company, Malaysia. The delegation expressed their visit aims to establish meaningful business and bilateral relations, explore new ventures, and gain a comprehensive understanding of Nepal’s business environment.

Prime Minister Oli highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to promote foreign investment through legal and structural reforms aimed at fostering prosperity. He encouraged investors to consider Nepal as a favorable destination and assured that the government remains committed to collaborating with business communities on necessary reforms and facilitation measures.

The delegation conveyed their interest in investing in sectors such as waste (plastic) processing, information technology parks, and tourism. Discussions also covered the potential for investment in tourism, agriculture, information technology, human resources, textiles, and other sectors within Nepal.

Arriving in Kathmandu on June 18 for a three-day visit, the delegation's trip was organized in collaboration with the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Oli’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic Affairs Advisor Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, and other officials.
