Jul 05, Kathmandu - Russia has become the first country to recognize the Taliban-led Afghan government. The Taliban took power in Afghanistan four years ago after US troops withdrew from the country in 2021.
Russia, which was once on the verge of taking over Afghanistan, had even listed the Taliban as a "terrorist." Russia, which fought a war in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989, removed the Taliban from its terrorist list in April of this year.
Soon after the Taliban came to power, Russia commented that America had failed in Afghanistan.
