Flooding In Texas Claims Over 50 Lives, Dozens Missing

Jul 06, Kathmandu - At least 51 people have died in flooding in the US state of Texas, NBC News reported. 27 people are also reported missing.

The Guadalupe River in the center of the state has caused widespread damage after it overflowed its banks.

Officials said that the search and rescue operations are continuing. Searchers are using helicopters, boats and drones to search for victims. After the road was washed away, efforts are being made to rescue the people who are alone in the camps and the people who are saving their lives by sitting in the trees.

Kerr County has been hit hardest by the flooding. Twenty-seven children are missing after flooding hit Camp Mystic, a girls' summer camp.

Questions have been raised about whether adequate warning and information was given to flood-prone areas and whether disaster preparedness was adequate.
