Jul 07, Kathmandu - Followers of the Dalai Lama held events in various parts of India on Sunday to mark his 90th birthday.
On the occasion of his 90th birthday, people gathered in different parts of India and wished him a long life with compassion and love.
A celebratory procession was organized in East Gaya on the occasion. In the Indian capital, a cake-cutting ceremony was held followed by a traditional dance performance.
The Dalai Lama bathed in water in the small Indian hill town of Dharamsala, where he lives, to the smiles and applause of thousands of monks and followers. He was greeted by waving hands as he walked slowly across the stage with the support of the monks.
Last week, the Dalai Lama said he would be reborn as a religious leader after his death.
The Nobel laureate is considered one of the world's most influential religious leaders. His following extends beyond Buddhism.
