Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Highlights Nepal’s Elevated International Standing Following Spain Visit

Jul 07, Kathmandu - Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that his visit to Spain has elevated Nepal's image on the international stage.

Informing about Nepal's participation and achievements in the Fourth International Conference on 'Finance for Development' held in Seville, Spain, at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Prime Minister Oli said that Nepal's active presence under the leadership of the Prime Minister in the conference attended by high-ranking officials from various countries has elevated Nepal's image on the international stage.

He said that the conference has contributed to further accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by fostering new partnerships at the global level for economic diplomacy.

Prime Minister Oli, in his address, led on behalf of the least developed countries and advocated for the equitable and economic and social development of these countries.

Expecting that the implementation of the Seville Commitment will provide global support and assistance to those countries for their upgrading, Prime Minister Oli expressed the view that Nepal will be upgraded to a developing country by 2026. He said that the visit has strengthened relations with foreign countries and the United Nations and has also advocated for the development of the least developed countries.

Nepal, which has 44 least developed countries, clarified that Nepal has shown its ability to lead effectively in front of those countries on the occasion of the conference.

The day before the conference, Prime Minister Oli addressed a gathering of civil society and informed them that he had called for a vigilant role of a strong civil society. Prime Minister Oli had left for the conference on Ashad 14 and returned home on Ashadha 14.
