Proposal For NEPSE Restructuring Submitted To The Finance Ministry

Jul 10, Kathmandu - Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has informed that it has submitted a study proposal for the restructuring of NEPSE to the Ministry of Finance.

In a discussion held in the Finance Committee under the Federal Parliament on Thursday, NEPSE Information Officer Murahari Parajuli informed that a study has been conducted on how to restructure NEPSE and a report on the structure proposal has been sent to the Ministry of Finance.

"We have been raising the issue of restructuring NEPSE with the Finance Ministry for a long time. However, this issue has recently received more attention. This issue has also been included in the government's policies and programs and budget," Parajuli said. "We have submitted a report to the Finance Ministry on the study proposal on how to restructure NEPSE."

He informed that after the Finance Ministry approves the proposal, homework will be done on what to do in the second phase. ‘Initially, there was talk of privatizing Nepse itself. Although the wording changed later, the main intention was to take Nepse out of government ownership,’ Parajuli said.

He informed that the first financial sector development strategy also called for disinvestment of shares of Nepse owned by Nepal Rastra Bank and the Government of Nepal, and no matter what is said, privatization will be the final implementation.
