Corruption Case Against Kalyanpur Municipality Mayor For Accepting Bribe Of Rs. 100,000

Aug 08, Kathmandu - The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a corruption case against Ram Pukar Shah Teli, the mayor of Kalyapur Municipality in Siraha.

The CIAA has filed a case against Mayor Shah Teli in the Special Court, Kathmandu, alleging that he accepted a bribe of one hundred thousand rupees while paying for a contract for a drain constructed in Ward No. 6 of the municipality.

Based on a complaint, a team of the CIAA deployed from the Bardibas office had already taken Shah into custody along with the bribe money he had received through a middleman.

During further investigation, the authority claims that it has been confirmed that Mayor Shah took a bribe of Rs 100,000 from a service recipient while paying for the construction of a concrete drain in Kalyanpur Municipality-6.

A special charge sheet was filed against Mayor Shah on Friday, demanding a fine of Rs 100,000 and imprisonment under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS, informed CIAA spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel.
