Nepali Women's National Football Team Faces Salary Delay for Four Months; Players Hold Talks with ANFA Officials

Aug 15, Kathmandu - The Nepali national women's football team has been without pay for the past four months, prompting the players to seek urgent resolution. On Thursday afternoon, a group of about a dozen players, including team captain Sabitra Bhandari (Samba), met with officials of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) — the federation overseeing football in Nepal to discuss the issue.

The players expressed their difficulties in managing expenses due to the unpaid salaries. "Without salaries, it has become difficult to cover basic expenses," said a team member. During the meeting, ANFA's president and general secretary reportedly discussed not only the players' salaries but also specific cases involving players Sabitra, Angela, and Anjana.

According to the players, the team last received two months' salary before participating in the AFC Women's Asian Cup-2026 qualifiers. Since then, they have been unpaid for four months, with the delay extending until Shrawan.

The players are hopeful that the issue will be resolved swiftly to ensure financial stability and continued focus on their upcoming competitions.
