Police Arrest Key Figures in Kidney Smuggling Gang Operating Between Nepal and India

Aug 31, Kathmandu - Police have arrested the main leader and another accomplice of a gang that smuggled kidneys from Nepal to India.

Police on Sunday informed about the gang that sells kidneys to India by reaching Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Sindhuli, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts by using various temptations. It has been revealed during the investigation that Shyam Krishna Bhandari's group sells kidneys to Nepalese in India.

The group's leader, Bhandari, and his accomplice, Sujan Bharati, were arrested at the border crossing while they were coming to Nepal from India. A team from the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau arrested Bhandari at Kanchanpur and Bharati at the Birgunj border crossing.

Four cases have been registered against the group with the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau and five victims have filed complaints. The bureau then launched an investigation under the name 'Operation Life Field'.

During the initial investigation, it was revealed that the person willing to donate his kidney was arranging the vehicle himself and taking him to New Delhi, India.

Three other people involved in the incident were arrested on Shrawan 20. Based on the complaint filed by the victim and the statements of the arrested people, the police had initiated further investigation.
