Youth Launch Massive Protest Against Corruption and Inequality in Nepal

Sep 07, Kathmandu - The youth have announced a massive movement against corruption, inequality and abuse of power on social media with the slogan ‘Gen-Z youth on the streets!’

The protest, scheduled to take place at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu on September 8, has received widespread support on social media.

Recently, videos and photos that have gone viral on social media show the leaders' children enjoying a luxurious lifestyle, expensive brand-name goods, and traveling abroad, while ordinary Nepalese struggle to make ends meet.

The younger generation has described the movement as a "concrete step" against the corruption and inequality prevailing in the country.

They have called on the general public to gather at their ancestral homes, describing it as a day to write history.

The trend has spread rapidly on social media, showing a great deal of discontent among the youth.

The trend, which has gone viral on social media, especially TikTok, has intensified the wave of protests.

Meanwhile, ordinary Nepalese are struggling to make ends meet. Images of high inflation, unemployment, and lack of access to services making life difficult are going viral on social media.

The Maitighar Mandala, which has become a symbol of the people's movement in the past, will once again resonate with the voices of the youth, the youth said.

Organizers have called for a peaceful protest, where public sentiment will be expressed through placards, slogans, and cultural performances.
