Delay in Upgrading to Regional Hospital Hampers Healthcare Services at Tulsipur Hospital

Oct 16, Kathmandu - The then Rapti Provincial Hospital in Tulsipur was converted into a provincial hospital in Paush 2074. Although it was expected that the services would be increased after the then Provincial Hospital was converted into a provincial-level hospital, that has not happened. The hospital is still operating with a 50-bed license.

Although the hospital received permission for 50 beds, currently 141 beds have been brought into operation according to the patient load. The Hospital Development Committee decided to add the same number of beds and provide services, said the committee's chairman, Padamprasad Neupane. "A master plan for a 600-bed hospital has been made. The work of the Organization and Management Survey survey has also been progressed to send manpower for 200 beds," he said, "It has not been able to achieve any completion."

Chairman Neupane informed that patients from not only Dang but also from Salyan, Rukum, Jajarkot, Rolpa and other districts are coming here for treatment. According to him, after patients from outside districts started coming, the federal government even granted a letter of approval for a 200-bed hospital in 2076 BS.
