February 23, Kathmandu- The government has intensified the construction of vaccine storage houses against COVID-19 in eight different places of the country. In order to ensure safe and proper management of the vaccine against the coronavirus, which has spread as a global pandemic, the Ministry of Urban Development has initiated the construction of one and one storage house at the central level in all seven provinces.
Accordingly, a storage house is being constructed at the site of the Provincial Lab in Biratnagar of Province No. 1, in the premises of Rural Development Training Center at Janakpur in Province No. 2, in the premises of Insect Disease Research and Training Center in Hetauda, capital of Bagmati Province and premises of Gandaki Health Office Kaski.
Similarly, a storage house is being constructed at Butwal Sub-Metropolis-12, Tamnagar, Lumbini, at the premises of Health Directorate at Surkhet, Karnali, at the premises of Health Training Center at Dhangadhi, Far Western Province, and at the premises of Pathalaiya Medical Store.
According to Suraj Poudel, head of the health building branch of the urban development and building construction department of the ministry will be spent a total of Rs. 96 million on the construction of eight storage houses at the rate of Rs. 12 million per storage house. According to him, the contract for the vaccine storage center to be constructed under Province-2, Karnali Province and Far-Western Province have been signed and the work order has been issued.
Poudel said that the bids of Bagmati Pradesh, Gandaki Pradesh, and Central Warehouse have been approved and the notice of intent has been published. The required vaccine for the respective provinces will be kept in the storage house within the said storage house and the remaining vaccine will be kept in the central storage house for the purpose as per the requirement.
