Vape case: Special court orders detention of Rewant Khadka

Jun 05, Kathmandu - The special court has ordered the detention of Rewant Khadka, a clerk at the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office involved in the electronic cigarette (Vape) case.

The bench of special court chairman Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and members Hemanta Rawal and Bidur Koirala ordered the detention of Khadka. The defendant Khadka, who was filed a corruption case with former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, was sent to jail on Friday after the special court ordered the detention of Khadka for remand.

The suitcase was seized after it was found that the vape was being brought in for commercial purposes and was kept in a suitcase. He took the gold taken out from there to New Road and sold it.

A case was filed against him on charges of exchanging the vape for smuggling the gold hidden inside the suitcase. Khadka is an accused who has already been convicted in a gold smuggling case filed earlier.
