Rabies Vaccine Shortage in the Far West

Jun 05, Kathmandu - Service recipients are facing problems due to the shortage of rabies vaccine in various government hospitals in the Far West Province.

Dr. Arjun Bhatta, spokesperson for Mahakali Provincial Hospital, says that patients who came to the hospital for vaccination were forced to return after the provincial supply center did not send the rabies vaccine.

He informed that there has been a shortage of vaccine in the hospital for the past 2-3 weeks. He says that 30-40 patients come to the hospital daily to get the vaccine.

Since the vaccine, which the government provides free of charge, is not available in government health institutions, patients are forced to buy it from private sources.
