Vice President Yadav meets with Egyptian Ambassador Aldiwany

Jun 09, Kathmandu - Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has received a courtesy call from Egyptian Ambassador to Nepal Sherif Mostafa Alsayed Aldiwany.

The meeting held at the Vice President's Office in Lainchaur discussed the long-standing friendship, goodwill and understanding between the two countries. Yadav expressed satisfaction with the friendship and goodwill that have existed between Nepal and Egypt since the establishment of diplomatic relations on July 16, 1957. He mentioned that Nepal established its embassy in Cairo in 1966 and Egypt in Kathmandu in 1970, saying that these have served as a symbol of the cordial relations between the two countries.

He expressed happiness over the second meeting of the Nepal-Egypt Bilateral Consultative Mechanism to be held in Cairo today after a long gap, expressing confidence that the meeting will lead to the signing of important agreements and memorandums of understanding and open new avenues of cooperation.

Vice President Yadav expressed satisfaction that both Nepal and Egypt are founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and have been cooperating on common issues in international forums including the United Nations, G-77 and the World Trade Organization. He said that Nepal and Egypt share the same view that the Non-Aligned Movement will remain relevant as long as injustice, marginalization and poverty persist in the world.

On the occasion of Egypt's National Day, Vice President Yadav congratulated the President, Government and friendly people of Egypt through the Ambassador and wished them continued peace and prosperity.

During the meeting, Ambassador Aldiwany expressed his commitment to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Nepal and Egypt. “Egypt is ready to cooperate in every sector of Nepal. It is especially willing to cooperate in the military and agricultural sectors,” he said. “Egypt wants to cooperate in providing chemical fertilizers to Nepal. It is also ready to invite Egyptian agricultural experts to Nepal to raise the level of agriculture here.”
