Jun 18, Kathmandu - Member of Parliament Harka Sampaung from the Shram Sanskriti Party has issued a stern warning to Minister Mahabir Pun of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, accusing him of frequent complaints and wasting time as a government minister.
During Wednesday's session of the House of Representatives, MP Raju Rai expressed dissatisfaction over the minister's lengthy responses, criticizing them as time-wasting and unnecessary.
"Governments should not be about complaints. Minister, whether you are part of the ruling or opposition side, you must understand that. Giving long speeches about laws that aren’t there or aren’t applicable is unnecessary," MP Rai stated. "From now on, you need to pay attention to time."
He also raised concerns over the unspent budget allocated for programs that allegedly do not exist, warning to exercise caution moving forward.
Rai pointed out that NPR 2.51 billion has been allocated as unspent funds, questioning the purpose of the allocation if no programs are in place, and urged the government to prevent budget misuse.
Minister Pun responded that necessary laws for the ministry have not yet been enacted and that over NPR 3.5 billion remains unspent in the budget, making expenditure challenging at this stage.
