Jun 21, Kathmandu - At least 24 people were injured in a bus accident early this morning in Bajura district.
The incident occurred on the Sanfebagar–Martadi section of the road in Rithabazar, Budhiganga Municipality-8, when the bus with license plate number Su.Pa.Pra. 01-001 Kha 1355 experienced brake failure and crashed, according to police reports.
The bus, en route from Mahendranagar to Martadi, suddenly lost its brakes and toppled into the left ditch of the road.
The vehicle was driven by 43-year-old Khadak Budha of Chhededaha Rural Municipality-5 in Khatpad.
Upon receiving the news, police teams from Rithabazar Temporary Police Post, Barjugaad Police Outpost, and Bajura District Police Office were dispatched to the scene.
Authorities have rescued all 24 injured individuals from the accident site. Among them, 23 passengers were taken to Bajura District Hospital for treatment, while one injured person was transferred to Baitadi Provincial Hospital in Achham.
The bus was carrying 33 passengers, including the driver, with only 9 passengers reported to be safe so far.
Some of the injured are in serious condition. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
