Jun 21, Kathmandu - Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly become India's most expensive star following the tremendous success of his film 'Dhurandhar.' 

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Ranveer is said to have earned a total of Rs. 325 crore from the two-part film. The actor is believed to have foregone his regular salary in favor of a profit-sharing agreement with the producers. With the film's rising budget, Ranveer is also said to have invested personally in the project.

The 'Dhurandhar' duo is claimed to have grossed approximately Rs. 3,100 crore worldwide and netted over Rs. 1,900 crore in India alone. 

Following this massive income, it is alleged that Ranveer received around Rs. 325 crore from theatrical, digital, satellite, and music rights sales. However, this has not been officially confirmed.

Previously, the record for the highest-earning star was held by Rajinikanth, who reportedly earned around Rs. 250 crore from the film 'Jailer.' Other stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Allu Arjun, and Prabhas were also said to have earned over Rs. 200 crore.

With his claim of Rs. 325 crore, Ranveer Singh is now said to have broken this record, making him the highest-paid actor in India to date.

The trend of skyrocketing star salaries in the Indian film industry has been evident over the past decades. In the 1990s, stars like Chiranjivi, Kamal Haasan, and Sridevi earned up to Rs. 1 crore per film for the first time. Later, superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan significantly elevated this level.

More recently, South Indian stars like Yash and Allu Arjun have reportedly commanded fees of up to Rs. 200 crore.

It is now reported that by 2026, Ranveer Singh's claimed earnings of Rs. 325 crore will make him the most expensive actor in India.
