Health Insurance Board Disburses Over 23.4 Billion Rupees to Healthcare Providers; Urges Continuity of Quality Services

Jul 03, Kathmandu - The Health Insurance Board has paid a total of NPR 2.34 billion (23.4 billion rupees) to healthcare service providers, the board announced today. An official notice stated that the total payments have reached NPR 2.34 billion, covering claims up to the end of November 2082 BS.

With this disbursement, the claims of all healthcare providers registered with the Health Insurance Board up to the end of Mangsir 2082 BS have been settled, ensuring financial relief amidst ongoing challenges.

Despite limited resources and structural hurdles, the program continues to significantly contribute to reducing citizens' treatment expenses and protecting against financial risks. The board acknowledged that due to the absence of a fully established sustainable financial mechanism, timely payments to providers have been challenging, leading to difficulties for both service providers and insured beneficiaries.

The board is actively coordinating with relevant authorities to manage budgets and secure sustainable financial sources for claim payments beyond Mangsir. It urged all healthcare providers to deliver continuous, high-quality services without disruptions or difficulties to insured patients, following established standards.

Furthermore, the board appealed to all insured individuals to responsibly utilize health insurance services, avoid unnecessary tests or treatments, and refrain from pressuring doctors or healthcare workers for excessive procedures. Such measures are vital to maintaining the program's sustainability and effectiveness.
