Jul 12, Kathmandu - In a recent statement, U.S. Central Command announced the successful completion of the third phase of military operations targeting Iran. Approximately 140 sites were struck during this phase, including missile and drone launchpads, ammunition depots, communication facilities, and other military infrastructure, according to social media updates.
Previously, the command claimed that despite Iran’s failure to adhere to a diplomatic agreement following attacks on commercial ships, opportunities were still given to de-escalate tensions.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported a fire aboard a container ship near Oman’s coast late Saturday after an incident that caused damage. Iranian state media, Press TV, reported explosions in various southern Iranian cities and confirmed that Iran has launched a series of retaliatory strikes against American targets across the Middle East. Attacks were noted in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, with Bahrain activating missile warning sirens.
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior raised its national security alert level within hours, urging citizens to stay indoors, keep away from windows, avoid unnecessary travel, and adhere to security instructions.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have destroyed an attack drone command center and drone hangar at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan. Iran also announced that it had targeted a vessel using an unauthorized route and subsequently closed the Strait of Hormuz, vowing a strong response to any retaliatory actions.
The IRGC further stated that they targeted ships identified as a threat to maritime security, especially those whose identification systems were deactivated. The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until further notice and until U.S. military intervention in the region ceases.
