Jul 13, Kathmandu - Arjun Ghimire officially assumed his responsibilities as the new Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority on Monday, after taking the oath of office and secrecy. His appointment was made by the Cabinet on Asadha 24, and he was handed his appointment letter by Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Dr. Bikram Timsina.
During the handover, Minister Timsina expressed confidence in Ghimire’s ability to lead the authority in a fair, transparent, and results-oriented manner, emphasizing the importance of adhering to legal responsibilities to strengthen the regulatory body's role. He highlighted the need to address existing challenges in the telecommunication sector and urged Ghimire to prioritize solutions.
The minister also emphasized improving service quality, protecting consumer interests, and promoting good governance. He advised Ghimire to develop clear short-term, medium-term, and long-term action plans without misusing authority.
After taking charge, Ghimire committed to identifying sector problems and working towards effective solutions. He assured that his tenure would focus on expanding telecommunication services, enhancing quality, and upholding strict adherence to laws, policies, and regulations to foster transparency and good governance in the industry.
