Government Forms Committee to Investigate Sunsari Incident Causing Civilian Casualty

Jul 28, Kathmandu - The government has constituted a five-member investigation committee to look into the recent incident involving the destruction of Janadhan (public funds) in Sunsari district. The committee is headed by Joint Secretary Bhupendra Thapa from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The committee includes Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi from Nepal Police, Superintendent of Police Vikram Humagai from the Armed Police Force, Deputy Secretary Shaligram Bhandari from the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, and Assistant Chief District Officer Poshan Lamichhane from the Sunsari District Administration Office, who will serve as the secretary.

The investigation team, led by Thapa, has been tasked with examining the incident and submitting a report within seven days.

The incident occurred in Kantipur, Sunsari, where police opened fire following a dispute between two groups, resulting in the death of one individual. Currently, the Sunsari District Administration has imposed a curfew to maintain order.
