Jul 28, Kathmandu - Microfinance victims, protesting various demands, have commenced an indefinite hunger strike at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu.
Following their 'Capital March' last Sunday to draw the government's attention, the victims began their hunger strike on Tuesday morning at Maitighar Mandala.
The protesters are demanding the release of past reports related to microfinance, implementation of these reports, an end to financial exploitation by microfinance institutions, banks, and financial organizations, and the abolition of exorbitant and compound interest rates. They also called for the cancellation of various fines and charges imposed under different titles.
Additionally, they are urging the government to address issues such as land collateral auctions, blacklisting, and unjust debt collection through judicial means.
The protesters have vowed to continue their indefinite strike until their demands are met.
