Jul 30, Kathmandu - In Dewangunj Rural Municipality, Kaptangunj, Sunsari, a youth succumbed to injuries sustained in police gunfire late Sunday night, bringing the death toll of the incident to two.  

According to Morang Police, 22-year-old Jay Prakash Mehta from Dewangunj-3 passed away on Thursday afternoon during treatment at Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar. Morang Police spokesperson and DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra confirmed the death.  

The incident left a total of 22 people injured, including 10 youths shot during the police operation. Currently, eight of the injured youths are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Biratnagar.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which has sparked widespread concern in the region.
