Jul 31, Kathmandu - B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital has made 350 out of its 500 beds available free of charge. According to the hospital's Acting Director, Dr. Umesh Nepal, patients occupying these free beds are also provided with complimentary meals.

“Our hospital offers free services, including three daily meals, to patients in general beds,” Dr. Nepal stated. The hospital ensures that patients are served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making treatment more accessible for those in need.

This initiative to provide free beds has been in place for the past three years. Additionally, the hospital charges minimal fees for patients in cabins, paying wards, post-op, HDU, ICU, and day-care units.

Patients from across Nepal and the Indian border seek treatment at this hospital, facing challenges such as limited staff and resources due to high patient inflow. Despite these hurdles, approximately 75 to 80 percent of the beds are regularly occupied.

Recognized as one of Nepal’s most equipped government hospitals for cancer treatment, B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital continues to serve as a beacon of hope for cancer patients across the country.
