Aug 07, Kathmandu - Khushbu Oli, Chief Whip of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has urged the government to immediately address the demands of intern doctor Dilli Harijan, who is currently on a hunger strike.

Speaking during the parliamentary session on Friday, Oli highlighted the critical situation of Harijan, who is in the ICU of Bir Hospital. She called on the government to pay urgent attention to his life and well-being.

Oli emphasized that all public and private educational institutions must provide interns with a stipend equivalent to 50% of the basic salary of the eighth level of health services. She also demanded the implementation of the working hours as per the Labor Act.

“The intern doctor, Dr. Hunu, is protesting at Maiti Ghar Mandala and is now in the ICU. I want to bring this matter to the government’s attention. His demands include equal pay for intern doctors, proper implementation of the stipend scheme, and adherence to working hours mandated by labor laws,” Oli stated.

She further appealed to the Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister to prioritize these demands, citing the critical health condition of the protesting doctor.

Additionally, Oli urged the Speaker of Parliament to remove controversial remarks made by Prime Minister regarding border issues from the parliamentary records, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.
