Aug 10, Kathmandu - Nepali Parliament member Gyanendra Shahi of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has announced his readiness to resign if allegations against him are proven true. Shahi claimed that false information circulating on social media about him consuming obscene videos and alcohol is part of a smear campaign aimed at damaging his character.

During a session of the House of Representatives on Monday, Shahi challenged the parliamentary health team to conduct a comprehensive medical examination of his body. “Test my blood, skin — and if even a single drop of alcohol is found in my body since birth, I am ready to resign,” he declared.

Shahi also alleged that malicious videos falsely portraying him are being circulated online, and criticized authorities for not taking action against those spreading such falsehoods. He emphasized that if the videos are confirmed to be authentic, he will retire from political life.

The MP expressed frustration over what he described as a conspiracy to tarnish his reputation, especially after raising issues related to the lack of timely medical treatment for marginalized and impoverished citizens in Karnali. “Despite facing all these conspiracies, I will not back down from raising the issues of the people,” Shahi stated, vowing to continue fighting for his constituents.
