Aug 14, Kathmandu - The Supreme Court has directed Kishor Shrestha, editor of the weekly 'Jana Aastha' and chairman of Aastha Media, to appear before the court on Monday along with all electronic materials seized from him.

The order was issued during a hearing on a habeas corpus petition filed by his wife, Saraswati Shrestha, claiming that Kishor Shrestha had been unlawfully detained without any basis or reason. A bench led by Justice Bala Krishna Dhakal issued the directive.

The court also instructed authorities to produce Shrestha, along with all communication devices seized from his residence and office, explaining the reasons for his detention.

Shrestha was detained Wednesday evening from his residence in Lalitpur on charges related to personal privacy violations. The Kathmandu District Court had permitted his three-day detention for investigation.

Following his arrest, police conducted a search of his residence and office, confiscating six computer CPUs, a monitor, and a mobile phone from the 'JanaAasta' office in Sanepa. On the night of his arrest, police also seized a laptop and mobile from his residence and collected CCTV recordings.
