Aug 16, Kathmandu - In the aftermath of relentless monsoon rains, a devastating landslide struck Resang in Jajarkot's Bhari Municipality-2, resulting in three fatalities and two individuals still unaccounted for.

According to authorities, 52-year-old Kedhar Karki, who was injured in the landslide, succumbed to his injuries at Kohalpur Medical College. Among the missing persons, the bodies of 54-year-old Umasingh Khatri and 83-year-old Rati Khatri, both from the same area, have been recovered, as confirmed by Armed Police Force Nepal spokesperson Shailendra Thapa.

The condition of 70-year-old Bhami Bahadur Karki from Chisapani and 14-year-old Haris Vikas from Gairigaun remains unknown.

The landslide also trapped several others, including 62-year-old Rambahar Shahi, 45-year-old Siddibahadur Kami, 58-year-old Kamala Karki, 23-year-old Anita Karki, 10-year-old Yunis Shahi, 45-year-old Sunitali Chhadra, and 61-year-old Bhadra Karki. Among the injured, Rambahar Shahi and Bhadra Karki are in critical condition and have been transferred to Nepalgunj and Surkhet for treatment.

Search and rescue efforts are underway, led by Nepali Army and armed police teams trained in disaster management, under the command of Inspector Kamal Karki. The team was deployed early morning to locate the missing individuals.

The landslide has damaged eight houses in the area, leaving residents in distress. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and conduct rescue operations.
