Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth Arrives in Kathmandu to Receive Honorary Major General Title

Aug 16, Kathmandu - Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth has arrived in Kathmandu to accept the honorary rank of Major General from the Nepali Army. He landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 4:15 PM on an Air India flight.

During his visit, General Seth is scheduled to hold high-level meetings, including discussions with Prime Minister and Defense Minister Balendra Shah and Nepali Army Chief General Shankar Basnet.

General Seth assumed the role of Indian Army Chief on June 30 this year. As part of the tradition between Nepal and India, he is set to be conferred the honorary rank of Major General by Nepal.

On Monday, President Ram Chandra Paudel will bestow the insignia of the honorary Major General during a special ceremony at Shital Niwas.

The tradition of bestowing honorary ranks of Major General between the armies of Nepal and India has been longstanding. This visit continues that tradition, with Nepal honoring General Seth with the esteemed title.
