Unknown Projectile Attacks Ship Near Hormuz Strait, One Dead, Crew Rescued

Aug 18, Kathmandu - In a concerning development near the Hormuz Strait, a vessel was targeted by an unidentified projectile during its exit from the strategic waterway. According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the attack caused damage to the ship's engine room, and one crew member was reported dead.

Following the incident, the Oman Coast Guard initiated a rescue operation to assist the remaining crew members onboard. Authorities are currently investigating the details of the attack. 

Prior to the escalation of tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran, over 130 ships were passing through the Hormuz Strait daily. However, in recent times, the number of vessels navigating this route has significantly decreased, with only a limited number now passing through the area.
