Aug 23, Kathmandu - Saptari's Shambhunath Municipality witnessed a heartbreaking incident as a two-year-old girl was found dead, with police arresting one person suspected of involvement.

The victim, Khushi Khatun, daughter of Mohammad Irfan of Ward 3 in Shambhunath Municipality, went missing from her home on Sunday morning. Approximately two hours later, her body was discovered in a thicket behind the house, according to Saptari police.

SP Rupak Khadka, the chief of Saptari police, stated that after receiving information about the girl's disappearance, police launched a search operation. During the investigation, her lifeless body was recovered from the bushes behind her residence.

Initial investigations suggest that personal rivalry may have been a motive behind the child's murder, SP Khadka added. One individual has been taken into custody for further questioning as police continue their investigation.
