China warns US not to Disrupt Ties with Iran

Aug 25, Kathmandu - China has warned the US not to hinder its economic and trade cooperation with Iran.

China's response came after the US Treasury Secretary hinted at tough economic sanctions on countries that buy oil from Iran.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian warned that economic warfare and pressure policies would not solve the problem and would only increase tension and conflict.

He said that China-Iran cooperation is under international law and should not be undermined.

China has also warned that it will take necessary measures to firmly protect its interests.

Notably, China has been purchasing a large share of Iran's oil exports.

It is estimated that the US sanctions could also affect China's energy security.
