Aug 28, Kathmandu - Following a devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Wednesday, frantic families are rushing to Kathmandu hospitals in hopes of finding their missing relatives. Crowds are gathered at TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, seeking information about the injured and deceased, while also trying to identify their loved ones among the missing.

Many have old photographs of their relatives on their mobile phones, while others have written down names, addresses, and contact numbers. Some are searching hospital lists for familiar names, and others are showing pictures of their loved ones in the hospital premises, desperate for any news.

Their hope is to find their relatives either as injured patients in the hospital or through any information shared by hospital staff. After the flood in Rasuwa, Sonam Tamang and Rupa Ghale have also reached the hospital in search of their seven missing family members.

Rupa Ghale tearfully displays a photo of her family members, saying, "This is my younger sister. She is my sister. This is my uncle's hand, and this is my father’s son."

Among the missing are individuals from Syabrubesi and Timure areas. According to Rupa, her sister was a teacher in the higher areas of Timure and had a two-year-old child. Since the flood, the family has had no contact with them. As a result, Sonam and Rupa are now looking through the hospital's injured list and photographs, hoping to locate their loved ones.

In the aftermath of the flood, families are also visiting TU Teaching Hospital, Bir Hospital, and the National Trauma Center. Authorities are collecting details such as names, addresses, relationships, and contact numbers of missing persons from hospitals to aid in their search.
