Aug 29, Kathmandu - In the wake of devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi area of Rasuwa, Nepal has received an announcement of financial and technical assistance from China. The Chinese government has pledged $2 million USD in cash aid to support flood-affected communities. In the initial phase, China plans to dispatch two military cargo aircraft carrying urgent relief supplies to Nepal.

Additionally, China will send two rescue teams equipped with expertise in tunnel rescue and technical operations to assist in the ongoing search and rescue efforts. These teams are expected to operate in the flood-affected areas, especially focusing on locating and rescuing individuals trapped within the tunnels and underground structures of hydroelectric projects.

The floods have caused significant damage to hydroelectric projects, settlements, and critical infrastructure in the region. The primary challenge remains rescuing those trapped inside the tunnels and underground facilities of the hydroelectric sites. Nepalese authorities—including the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and local rescue teams—are already engaged in search and rescue operations.

With the deployment of specialized drilling and rescue technology, the arrival of Chinese experts is anticipated to enhance the efficiency of rescue efforts. The combined aid, relief supplies, and technical support from China are expected to bolster the ongoing rescue and relief operations, providing much-needed relief to the flood-affected population in Rasuwa.
