Aug 30, Kathmandu - The CPN (UML) has conducted an on-site inspection of the flooding caused by the Bagmati River near Bhotekoshi and Trishuli River, and has prepared a detailed report. The investigation was led by General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, who personally visited the affected areas.

The report was submitted to party Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Sunday. The flooding, which originated from Tibet's Shigatse region on Bhadra 10, has resulted in significant human and material losses in districts including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading. Affected settlements such as Rasuwagadhi, Timure, Syabrubesi, Mailung, Betrawati, Trishuli, Dunge, and Devighat experienced severe damage.

The report outlines preliminary damage assessments and recommends immediate relief and rescue efforts from the party. It suggests establishing a central relief fund, mobilizing internal party units for collecting aid, and distributing relief materials swiftly. Additionally, it emphasizes the urgent need to rescue and rehabilitate workers in the most affected areas, proposing the Nepal Trade Union Congress be deployed immediately for relief operations.
