Sep 01, Kathmandu - The Speaker of the Parliament, D.P. Aryal, has called for the reconvening of the House of Representatives. Following a meeting of the House Business Advisory Committee today, the session, which was indefinitely postponed, is scheduled to resume tomorrow, Wednesday, at 1:00 PM.

According to Prakash Chandra Pariyar, a federal parliamentary leader of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), the agenda includes a special resolution on the major disaster facing the nation. The committee approved the agenda during today’s meeting.

Pariyar explained, “The House, which was postponed indefinitely due to the major disaster, convened today’s meeting to plan its resumption. The committee proposed three possible dates: Bhadra 17, Bhadra 18, and Bhadra 22. It was decided that on Bhadra 17, the Speaker will present a special resolution on the national disaster, and the House will then be reconvened. An additional meeting is scheduled for August 18, followed by three public holidays, with the session set to restart from Bhadra 22. If the government declares a national mourning on Bhadra 22, the regular business of Parliament will commence from Bhadra 23.”

He further stated that leaders of six political parties representing Parliament have agreed to share their perspectives on the disaster-related issues during the special session. However, no decision has been made yet regarding proposer and supporter roles for the resolution.

The House of Representatives will operate for two days on Bhadra 17 and 18. After the three-day public holiday, the session is expected to resume on Bhadra 22.

If the government declares a national mourning on August 22, the Parliament’s regular business will start from Bhadra 23, Pariyar added.
