Sep 03, Kathmandu - Indian and Nepali rescue teams are braving treacherous, swamp-like conditions in Rasuwa to carry out high-stakes excavation and rescue operations inside the flood-damaged Chilime powerhouse tunnel.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, visited the technical teams stationed in Syabrubesi near Chilime to inspect the operations firsthand.

Key Highlights of the Rescue Operation:

100-Meter Depth Reached: Working in close coordination with the Nepali Army, the Indian technical team has penetrated 100 meters inside the tunnel using specialized equipment.

Deployment of Heavy Machinery: Plans are underway to bring in heavy equipment to accelerate excavation through dense mud and debris inside the tunnel.

Tough Terrain, Undeterred Resolve: Ambassador Srivastava noted that despite the swamp-like ground and severe terrain challenges created by recent flooding, both teams remain undeterred in their joint mission.

The specialized joint operations are part of ongoing search and rescue efforts following severe flash floods and landslides in the region.
