Sep 04, Kathmandu - An Indigo Airlines aircraft accidentally struck a pole while parking at Srinagar Airport on Friday morning. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. when the aircraft, arriving from Navi Mumbai, was maneuvering into parking bay number 6.

All 200 passengers and crew onboard are reported to be safe, with no injuries sustained. Passengers and crew members were safely evacuated using manual aircraft stairs following the collision. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

The damaged aircraft’s nose section sustained impact damage, with the front part being pushed inward by approximately one foot. The pole involved in the collision is part of the Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS), which helps pilots park aircraft accurately and safely.

The affected area includes the aircraft’s nose, which houses critical sensors and equipment such as the radar, pitot tubes, angle of attack sensors, and temperature sensors. Damage to these components could impact the aircraft’s speed, altitude, and weather-related data.

Despite the incident, Srinagar Airport remains operational, with all scheduled flights running on time. The investigation will focus on assessing the extent of the damage and ensuring the aircraft’s airworthiness before it is cleared for flight.
