Sep 08, Kathmandu - The Ministry of Health and Food Safety has intensified the management of vaccines and essential health supplies amid rising risks of cholera infection in flood-affected regions.

In response to the increased threat, the ministry dispatched 80,523 doses (23 boxes) of cholera vaccines, along with 10 vaccine carriers, refrigerators, ice packs, and fridge tags to Nuwakot on Tuesday.

Additionally, the ministry has already sent vaccines to Rasuwa via helicopter, and a vaccination campaign against cholera is scheduled to commence there on Thursday, Bhadra 25. Flooding has severely impacted water supply and sanitation systems, elevating the risk of waterborne diseases.

The ministry emphasized that with the increased vulnerability to cholera and other waterborne illnesses, prioritizing infection prevention through vaccination is crucial in the affected areas.
