Sep 10, Kathmandu - The death toll from the catastrophic floods caused by the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa has reached 1,374 as of Thursday at 11 a.m. The bodies were recovered from eight heavily affected districts across the country.

According to Nepal Police, the victims include 178 from Rasuwa, 197 from Nuwakot, 70 from Dhading, 364 from Chitwan, 77 from Gorkha, 38 from Tanahun, 228 from East Nawalparasi, and 222 from West Nawalparasi. A total of 1,286 DNA samples from the deceased and 1,639 from relatives have been collected for identification purposes.

So far, 1,148 bodies have been identified and managed after completing the identification process. The details of the remaining 1,292 unidentified bodies have been published on the Nepal Police website. Continuous search, rescue, relief distribution, and body management operations are underway with the deployment of 7,975 police personnel.

Meanwhile, 4,089 individuals remain missing, and search efforts are ongoing. Holding centers established across various districts currently accommodate 2,989 people. The police have prioritized search and rescue of the missing, identification and management of bodies, and relief efforts for affected individuals, continuing their coordinated response.
