Sep 15, Kathmandu - The Nepal Army has reportedly lodged a formal complaint with Prime Minister Balendra Shah ‘Balen,’ expressing dissatisfaction with the conduct and statements of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki.

Sources indicate that the Army has taken issue with Karki's recent remarks, which they believe have unfairly accused other security agencies. Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel has also voiced objections to Karki’s comments, stating they are inappropriate and unfounded.

In an interview, Karki suggested that if police helicopters had been available during the Bhote Koshi floods, more lives could have been saved. The Army perceives this statement as implying inadequate participation in rescue efforts, which has further escalated tensions.

Prime Minister Shah has reportedly also issued a caution to Karki regarding his recent remarks, according to sources from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Additionally, officers from the Armed Police and the Home Ministry are said to be dissatisfied with Karki’s leadership style. The controversy has also extended to allegations of irregularities in procurement related to election security equipment, leading to disputes with Members of Parliament in parliamentary committees.
