Sep 17, Kathmandu - The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund has reached nearly NPR 14.5 billion in deposits, according to the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office. As of Thursday morning, a total of NPR 10.79 billion, 26 million, 648 thousand, 898 rupees, is held across nine different banks. Additionally, the fund’s dollar accounts in two banks hold approximately USD 2.39 million.

The office reports that the combined total in all accounts amounts to NPR 14.45 billion, 98 million, 10 thousand, 178 rupees.

A significant portion of the funds has already been disbursed to aid victims of the recent flooding in Rasuwa’s Bhotekoshi River through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, totaling NPR 1 billion.

The government recently announced a monthly support scheme for families affected by the floods in Rasuwa, covering rent and other essential expenses. Under this scheme, families of up to four members will receive NPR 15,000 monthly, with an additional NPR 2,000 allocated for each extra member.
