Sep 19, Kathmandu - The selection process for Nepali students to participate in the upcoming ‘CodeVer International’ competition, focused on robotics, coding, and artificial intelligence (AI), has officially commenced today.

Nima Education Foundation launched the initiative with a program held in Kathmandu, aiming to select Nepali students for the international event scheduled for next year. The competition is open to students aged 7 to 18 and will feature participants from nearly 50 countries, according to the foundation.

Kiran Shrestha, Program Coordinator of Codeavour Nepal, emphasized the importance of using AI robotics to develop innovative solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The platform encourages students to create programs and action plans that foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication—key skills for addressing global challenges like renewable energy and the worldwide energy crisis.

Shrestha highlighted that last year’s competition in Jakarta, Indonesia, saw the participation of 95 students selected from 5,000 applicants across Nepal, forming 40 teams. The event set several records, with Nepal securing three of the top 30 projects worldwide and winning six international titles.

Nepal’s successful track record includes participation in the 2024 Jakarta competition with 60 students forming 20 teams, and the 2025 event in Doha, Qatar, with 72 students across 19 teams. Nischal Pradhan, Executive Director of the foundation, stated that Nepal is now preparing to be among the top ten countries in this year’s competition.

The national selection process, which takes place in Thailand, is expected to see around 8,000 Nepali students participating. Program Coordinator Shrestha expressed confidence that students will be selected based on a phased, methodical process grounded in clear standards and criteria, leading to significant achievements in this international, information technology-based challenge.

The international competition is scheduled for April and May next year, as announced by the foundation.
